What are the teaching methods used in the School of Economics?
At UNM, you can expect to experience a wide range of teaching methods, depending on which modules you are studying and in which School they are taught. In your first and second years, you can select up to 20-40 credits from an approved list of optional modules in other Schools, such as courses in language, political science, and psychology. However, in your third year, you will begin focusing only on economics modules. There is also a varied set of assessments for each module, ranging from formative coursework and quizzes to research projects and undergraduate dissertations.
Are mathematics and statistics skills important to excel in UNM’s economics programmes?
You must have a good foundation in mathematics and statistics to study economics at the university level. You will be taking a quantitative module in your first year and two econometric modules in your second year of university. Additionally, optional econometric-oriented modules are also available in the final year.
Can I choose to study Economics abroad other than on the UNM campus?
Yes, we offer inter-campus exchange opportunities for full-time undergraduate students to spend up to a year at the University of Nottingham Campus in the UK or China, based on placement availability. Alternatively, you can also participate in UNM’s competitive U-21 programme where you can spend up to a year abroad at any of our global partner universities.
