Workshop

SoE-WoTM

About the workshop

From knowing the shape of a biscuit to money transactions - Mathematics is everywhere! However, many hold the view that Mathematics is not for certain groups of children. This is a misconception and Mathematics should not be a subject in school that children grow to fear or hate later in life. How can we step out of traditional ways of teaching Mathematics? How do we incorporate games, songs, stories, puzzles, and more to make Mathematics fun and accessible to all children? This workshop will provide you with the answers and show you how to create simple activities to make Mathematics enjoyable and educable.

This workshop is suitable for teachers and parents working with preschool children or children with special needs at the early primary years.

*This workshop was first conducted in Penang in 2015, and was well received by the parents and teachers who attended it. We hope to benefit parents and teachers in central Malaysia by hosting it in Semenyih this year.
