How do I activate my University IT Account?
An IT account is issued to each new student as part of the registration process. You will first need to activate your IT account to retrieve your official university username and temporary password. You will be given the chance to change your password during the activation.
- Open any web browser and go to: https://itaccounts.nottingham.ac.uk/students.php
- Enter the following credentials:-
Surname: [Enter your surname]
Date of birth: [Enter your date of birth. Example: If it's 5th February 2010, then enter "05/02/2010"]
Student ID: [Enter your student ID number. Example: 20401212]
- Read the Acceptable Use Policy and tick on "I have read and understood the statement..."
- Click on Continue and your official university username, password and email will be issued. If you get an error and are unable to proceed, please contact the ITService Desk for assistance.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your secret questions and answers.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to change your password. This step is compulsory otherwise you may face issues logging into other University applications like Moodle.
Congrats! You now have access to a variety of University systems and applications such as:
- NottinghamHub
NottinghamHub is the University’s student administration system. Students use this system to complete registration, enroll onto modules, update their details and pay university fees.
Note: Please use your University IT account to login instead of your Applicant account.

Access your University email and all Microsoft 365 services like Teams and SharePoint here.
Note: The username is your email address.
- Moodle
Moodle is the University's learning management system where you will find your course materials and assignments.
Note: You must change your default password when you first activate your IT account.
- University Wi-Fi, Computer Labs and Printing Services
Use your login to access the campus Wi-Fi (Eduroam), computer labs, printing services and many more.
Your responsibilities
All students must take full responsibility for activity within their IT account and adhere to the IT Acceptable Use Policy.
Account owners are requested to take appropriate care with their account details/passwords.
