Vacancy: Part-time University Teacher Register

Position description
 

We are seeking suitably qualified candidates for the Part-time University Teacher Register in the School of Media, Languages and Cultures for language programmes at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.

The school may require part-time language lecturers to help teach during the academic semesters, typically from September to January, and February to May. UNM pays an hourly rate between RM120.00 and RM150.00 depending on qualification and experience. Payment is inclusive of class teaching time, preparation for classes, consultation with students, and preparation and marking of examination papers.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Teach and contribute to the teaching and development of core languages offered by the school including Spanish, French, Korean
  • Prepare class materials and exams. 
  • Provide appropriate feedback on oral and written work. 
  • Grade and moderate assessment. 
  • Provide student support and consultation. 
  • Administrative duties as required. 
  • Work with the Head of Languages with other associated duties as required.

Do note that the key responsibilities list is not exhaustive, and the role holder may be required to undertake other relevant duties commensurate with the grading of the post. All activities may be subject to amendment over time as the role develops and or priorities and requirements within the School evolve.

Background and Experience: 

  • Degree in language teaching or equivalent qualification. 
  • Native or near-native command of one or more of the following languages: Spanish, French, Korean. 
  • PGCHE or equivalent qualification in language teaching. 
  • Experience of teaching university level language courses in languages. 
  • Experience in producing and implementing schemes of work ranging from beginners’ level to post A2 in the target language. 
  • Experience in designing examinations from beginners’ level to post A2 in the target language. 
  • Good communicator. 
  • Able to establish good rapport with students. 
  • Adaptable and willing to work as a team member to comply with departmental objectives. 
  • Must have good time management and organisational skills. 
  • Competence with online teaching tools including MS Teams, Moodle, etc. 
  • For non-Malaysians, be in possession of a valid work permit or residence pass (Employment pass, PR, RP, RPTalent or RPTalent dependent, LTSVP with Permission To Work, etc.).
  • Have an MOHE Teaching Permit or be willing to apply for one. 
  • Willing to travel to the Semenyih campus.
