Choosing the right pre-university pathway after SPM, IGCSE or O-Levels can be overwhelming. In Malaysia, students have options like STPM, A-Levels, diplomas, and foundation courses. Many wonder, what is the best route to university? If you're looking for a flexible, well-supported and internationally recognised pathway, Nottingham’s Foundation Programme (NFP) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) may be the answer.

Designed as a one-year pre-university course, the NFP prepares you for undergraduate studies in top disciplines such as Pharmacy, Engineering, Computer Science with AI, Business, Psychology and more. Whether you're clear on your future or still exploring, this programme bridges the gap between school and university - equipping you with the academic skills and confidence to thrive.

What Is a Foundation Programme?

A foundation programme is a pre-university qualification that helps students transition from high school to degree-level education. Typically lasting one year, it focuses on the fundamental subjects needed for your chosen degree. Compared to A-Levels (which take 18–24 months) or diplomas (2–3 years), foundation programmes in Malaysia like the NFP are shorter and more direct - saving you time and money.

At UNM, the foundation programme curriculum is structured where students take core modules and have the flexibility to choose between a variety of optional modules based on their interest or future degree. The module options include subjects like Science (Chemistry, Biology and Physics), Programming, Psychology, Business, Social Science and more!

The diversity of optional modules allows students to explore different disciplines and fields, helping them to identify what they truly want to study and have as a career.

Why Choose Nottingham’s Foundation Programme?

Nottingham’s Foundation Programme stands out for several reasons:

✅ One-Year Duration: Begin your undergraduate studies sooner compared to the 2-4 year required by other pre-university options.

✅ Flexible Curriculum: Core and optional modules prepare you for over 60 internationally recognised courses.

✅ Academic Excellence: Taught by passionate academics with 85% of them holding PhDs.

✅ Up to 25% Scholarships: Financial aid available for high achievers.

✅ British Curriculum: Experience a globally-recognised education in Malaysia.

Nottingham’s Foundation Programme has a tuition fee of RM35,000 for Malaysians and RM38,000 for international students. This fee is for the entire 1-year programme. NFP offers great value, especially when compared to longer pre-university programmes or international study options.
