Looking for a foundation programme that leads directly into a UK degree? The Nottingham Foundation Programme (NFP) is your fast, flexible pre-university route designed for SPM, IGCSE, UEC, A Levels and equivalent qualifications. It’s the perfect launchpad for high-school leavers who want a smooth transition into university and ultimately into their dream degree.
The NFP is a 1-year, full-time foundation course completed over two semesters. It offers a faster and more flexible alternative to traditional diploma programmes. We welcome both Malaysian and international students, with intakes in April and September.
UNM also offer scholarships to top-performing students through the Foundation High Achievers’ Scholarship where you can enjoy up to 25% off your foundation study.
Module Structure
What makes the Nottingham Foundation Programme standout is its flexibility. Whether you already know your degree pathway or are still exploring your options, NFP lets you sample a variety of subjects before committing to your undergraduate course.
Students receive academic guidance from our experienced academics to help them choose modules that align with their interests and future degree goals. Over the course of one year, you’ll complete 10-11 modules worth 150 credits, including 4 compulsory modules that include Critical Thinking, Sustainability and English.
The remaining modules are fully customisable, giving you the freedom to shape your pathway based on the degree you plan to pursue. For example, future engineers may take Physics and Mathematics. Science-focused students might choose Biology or Psychology. Those still exploring can opt for free electives to discover their strengths and passions.

Your journey to a UK degree begins with just 5Cs in SPM/IGCSE/GCSE or equivalent. We also accept qualifications such as STPM, UEC, A Level, and IB Middle Years.
