Assistant Professor,
Dr Loo Shu San is an Assistant Professor at the School of Biosciences, Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Nottingham Malaysia. He obtained his BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry, MSc in Molecular Biology, and PhD in Microbiology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Currently, he is an Associate Fellow of Advanced Higher Education (UK). Prior to joining the university, he served as a research scientist at the National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia, where he focused on projects related to food security and environmental sustainability. In this role, he fostered collaboration between universities, industries, and communities.

To address the pressing issue of global food security amid a growing population, sustainable innovation is crucial. My research focuses on exploring microbial diversity from diverse sources and assessing their potential applications in sustainable food production, environmental management, and health promotion. Specifically, I am investigating the use of microbes for biofertilizers, bioremediation, and functional foods.
