Biography

Mandy is currently a University Teaching Fellow at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. She collaborates with government agencies such as Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), TalentCorp, Invest Penang, Invest KL, i2M Ventures; Global Business Services organisations, business associations such as OM previously known as Outsourcing Malaysia, PIKOM, International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) and other stakeholders to identify pertinent issues in the business industry including inter-organisational linkages for innovation and marketing, talent for digital economy and business trends in Asia.

Mandy brings with her years of experience in managing human resources from both MNCs and SMEs in addition to her family business management background, prior to joining academia. She has contributed to job creation for single mothers and assisted refugees for sustainable livelihood in Malaysia. To date, she has secured three large-scale research funding since 2013; two of them focused in the areas of HRM, one in Upskilling and Vocational Training. Recently, she is working on a research project focusing on Sustainable Teleworking Practice Among Women Workforce in Malaysia funded by the Ministry. She champions industry-academia-government collaboration, having been awarded Asia's Education Leadership Award (2015, Singapore), Vice Chancellor's Medal (2019) and Lord Dearing Award (2018).

Current Research

Mandy's current research focus are in the areas of HR shared services and outsourcing (or rather being known as global business services now), and business strategy. She is presently looking at human resource outsourcing (HRO) adoption, effectiveness and working relationships in Malaysia.

Past Research

Mandy has conducted research related to human resource information system adoption among manufacturing firms using Technology Acceptance Model. She involved in researching the relationship between leadership styles and cognitive styles among HR managers. She published a viewpoint paper entitled the intangible costs of human resource outsourcing in a practitioner journal while contributed a free summary report to HR magazine. In addition, she also shared findings and discussed about HR outsourcing trends in Asia Pacific region for the benefits of the HR community. Mandy has also secured a number of research grants and published her papers in international journals.
