About us

UoNARI-Malaysia (UoNARI-M) serves to integrate Asia-focused researchers (faculty and students) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. Headlined by the unifying theme of TransAsia, UoNARI-M sits comfortably across disciplinary boundaries and encourages conversation and debate that reaches beyond academic walls. 

TransAsia includes and welcomes researchers working on the following
sub-themes: 

• Trust, security, soft power
• Food and identity related to community wellbeing and sustainability in Asia
• Media and gender
• Cosmopolitan networks
• Transnational linkages that can be inter-Asian, regional Asia and beyond 

UoNARI-M also seeks external engagements and will actively pursue opportunities for research partnerships and joint conference and seminar organising.  
 

Our aims are to:

• support research grant bids on Asia related topics.
• hold and partner in conferences and seminar programmes.
• build links with Nottingham in the UK and China on joint research.
• build links with external partners to facilitate research on/in Asia.
• engage in public outreach and media commentary on current affairs.
• serve as a unifying centre for postgraduate students across all schools whose research is Asia-focused.
