Description

The Global Business Services (GBS) industry is commonly referred to as the outsourcing and shared services industry. This industry is estimated to be worth more than USD 200 billion globally and more than USD 6 billion in Malaysia (Everest Group, 2020; Bernama, 2019). It has grown by more than 10% per annum in Malaysia for the past 5 years and currently employs more than 250,000 people in the country (OM, 2020). The panel discussion will focus on the GBS industries growth in Asia, in particular Malaysia and what this growth holds for future graduates post COVID.

Justin J Anthony, The Executive Director of PIKOM
Justin is currently the Executive Director of PIKOM – The National Tech Association of Malaysia, entrusted to execute key initiatives towards achieving the needs of the TECH industry in the areas of Global Business Services (GBS), E-commerce, Cybersecurity and other special interest groups. He brings with him over 30 years of work experience spanning across the fields of finance and accounting, managing turnkey projects, project management, business development and industry development.

Justin facilitates industry partnerships and collaboration while establishing strategic alliances with various associations, academia and relevant industry bodies- to create viable eco-systems between the industry, academia as well as between private and public sectors. Justin has curated many thought-leadership programmes, B2B sessions, CEO forums, 'place and train' programmes and workshops to facilitate the needs and requirements of the industry. He has been instrumental in executing projects at the national level under the Economic Transformation Programme – National Key Economic Areas - Business Services and advocating SME adoption of e-Commerce in Malaysia.

Nik Izuddin, Head, Investor Management at MDEC 
Nik has been with MDEC since September 2009. Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Sdn. Bhd. or MDEC is an agency under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia. MDEC have been entrusted to develop, coordinate, and promote Malaysia’s digital economy, information and communications technology (ICT) industry, and the adoption of digital technology amongst Malaysian.

At MDEC, Nik is responsible to promoting Malaysia as a premier hub for multinational companies in areas of Digital Economy, including the Global Business Services. Nik had worked with many multinationals in setting up and expand their GBS operations in Malaysia, such as DXC, DELL, Citigroup, IBM, GSK, Eli Lilly, BT, Experian, SWIFT, Commerzebank, and many more.

Currently, Nik is heading a team in MDEC that responsible for current investors to realise their investment commitment and further expand their operation in Malaysia.

Dato’ Munirah Looi, Founder & CEO of Brandt International
Dato’ Munirah, Top 3 Nominee for the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2018 and was awarded the '10 Best Inspiring CEOs 2020' by Industry-Era. She is a member of International Who’s Who of Professionals, Life Member of International Business Leaders and Asia CEO Community.

She is the Founder & CEO of Brandt International, which specialises in Business/Digital Transformation/CX Consulting and Business Process Managed Services by leveraging on digital workforce (AI, ML, DL & RPA). She is an experienced Facilitator, CX & Digital Transformation Strategist, Operational Excellence Management & Human Performance Improvements practitioner for the past 30 years having undertaken various Corporate & consulting assignments in Customer Experience and Organisation Development & Digitalisation assignments, both locally and overseas. She has worked extensively throughout Asia & US. 

Michael Warren, CEO of Consulting Board Asia
Michael Warren is the CEO of Consulting Board Asia. He is a Board Member of Heriot-Watt University. He is an Adjunct Professor to University Kebangsaan Malaysia. He is an Open Networker, one of the top 100 Most Influential Malaysians on LinkedIn (2020), and one of the Top 550 Social CEOs on Twitter worldwide (2020). He sits on several Blockchain, Industry 4.0, eCommerce, and Global Business Services / Shared Service councils and bodies for Malaysia and across the region.

A past recipient of the Malaysian ICT thought leader of the year, his experience includes being President of Fujitsu Malaysia, CEO of LogicaCMG Asia, CEO of DataOne Asia and senior leadership roles in government bodies InvestKL and MDeC Malaysia. 

Sugeeta Bhanoo, Head of Capabilities, APAC at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence
Sugeeta is BAE AI’s APAC Head of Capabilities overseeing 480 staff across Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. With over 17 years of experience in telecommunications and defence industries coupled together with her MBA research on global virtual team inefficiencies, she has a deep understanding of the R&D challenges in a global and local context.

Prior to joining BAE, Sugeeta was the first female Head of R&D of a 62-member software development and testing team in Nokia Solutions & Networks (NSN). This team played a significant role in developing and maintaining the world’s largest Subscriber Data Management solution (2.2 billion subscribers). She also has extensive experience managing offshoring and building new teams for start-up (Apertio) and multi-national companies (Motorola, NSN, BAE Systems).
