Biography

Ying Xian is an Assistant Professor at the School of Education, University of Nottingham Malaysia. She holds a PhD and a BA (Hons) in TESOL, and an MA in Applied Linguistics and ELT. Her research focuses on second language (L2) vocabulary, particularly bilingual lexical processing and vocabulary assessment. This includes how vocabulary is learned under incidental and intentional conditions, and how cross-linguistic influence shapes vocabulary learning among bi- and multilingual learners. She also explores how insights from vocabulary research can inform classroom practice, materials design, and assessment.
