Corporate Star Best Dressed Competition

Students arrived at the Alumni and Donor Relations Office (ADRO) dressed in their best corporate outfit to win the Corporate Star Best Dressed Competition, held as part of the Nottingham Advantage Award (NAA) Developing Skills for Working in Public Relations module launched by ADRO recently.

A total of 15 students participated in the module to familiarize themselves with five core areas of public relations: professional communication skills, using digital media platforms for public relations, identification and use of research sources for stakeholder analysis, local event coordination and international event management. They were divided into five groups based on the core groups.

The participants learned theories, concepts, formulation and implementation of public relations strategies in a workshop organized by ADRO, in collaboration with the Campaign and Alumni Relations Office in the UK and the Corporate Marketing Department at UNMC.

The participants were tasked to meet at ADRO on a weekly basis for assignments and to discuss issues and challenges. Some of the projects the teams have worked on include producing a video of an interview with the award-winning alumna Dr. Ting Kang Nee on her Climb for Life 2 fundraising event and a short video of student experiences at UNMC in conjunction with the 15th anniversary of the campus.

The teams are also taking the lead on coordinating masterclasses and the Sri Lanka alumni event, in addition to preparing biographies of successful alumni individuals.

The evaluation of the project is scheduled on 9 May 2015 with panel members that include UNMC alumnus James Wong who graduated with a MBA in 2013 and is now an Associate Director with an advertising agency.

We would like to extend an invitation to alumni who are savvy in corporate communications to become involved in the Nottingham Advantage Award 2016. Please contact us for further information.
