myBurgerLab – trend-setters of the modern day business

Award-winning alumni Teoh Week Kiat and Chin Ren Yi, founders of myBurgerLab visited Malaysia Campus recently for a campus pop-up restaurant. They were welcomed with a queue that started 30 minutes earlier in anticipation of the juicy burgers in charcoal buns!

myBurgerlab is a chain of restaurants providing interesting menus, good food, friendly staff, great ambience and vibes - the list of praise goes on for the burger chain in Malaysia that is turning heads. This popular restaurant chain is owned by two University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus alumni, Chin Ren Yi and Teoh Wee Kiat. Their names may sound familiar as the duo recently won a prestigious Alumni Laureate Award in 2014 for the Alumnus of the Year category.

When asked why there has always been a queue at each outlet since the day they opened in 2012, Chin Ren Yi says that they only have one simple objective: to sell good, juicy burgers on fresh buns and that they never use shortcuts to reach a customer’s heart. It is no surprise they have won a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor and are rated as the number one restaurant in Petaling Jaya.

As well as their award-winning food, myBurgerLab have also pioneered innovative strategies such as:

Free cheeseburgers in exchange for donated food for shelters in Petaling Jaya

Half price burgers if customers win ‘one-two-zzoom’ games over the cashier

Monthly vouchers

These ideas have successfully attracted customers from cities all over Malaysia to take notice of this successful burger chain. Their outlets have also been visited by YouTube superstars Kina Grannis, Madilyn Bailey, Jun Curry Ahn, David Choi, Jason Chen, Jinnyboy and Reuben.

From the charcoal buns to the burger patties, all of myBurgerLab’s products are baked from scratch daily in their own bakery. They believe it’s the only way to get that perfect combination of crisp crust and melt-in-your-mouth, fresh-from-the-oven taste. Their own sun dried tomatoes are another great feature of their outlets.

“We grind our own beef patties daily and hand-pack them just so they retain their freshness and juiciness. In fact, our patties are still beautifully pink right before they hit the griddle. Some people are born to build the world’s tallest buildings or create the world’s fastest cars. We’re out to make the world a happier place, one burger at a time. At the very core, myBurgerLab is a community business. It is made up of everyday people like you and I. As we continue to grow with your support, we promise to strive harder to give back to the community”, said Chin Ren Yi.

The continuous hard work and enthusiasm of Chin Ren Yi and Teoh Wee Kiat have brought endless consumer support, something they are proud of as they open their new branch at  Sunway, Subang Jaya, Selangor.
