Reflecting upon work experience

About the module

This module is aimed at students, who will be undertaking a part-time or full-time work placement or internship during their summer break within or outside the university.

Aims and objectives 

The module aims to support students in recognising the skills they are gaining whilst undertaking work experience. The workshops are designed to support you in drawing key strengths with regard to your employability based upon skills acquired throughout your work experience. Work experience in this context refers to paid work or unpaid work experience not related to charitable volunteering or similar.  

Requirements 

  • Open to all students, excluding the Final Years.
  • Students are required to attend TWO compulsory workshops as follow:
    • Workshop 1 (2 March 2023, Thursday | 16:30 to 18:30 | TBC) 
    • Workshop 2 (23 March 2023, Thursday | 16:30 to 18:30 | TBC)

Please check your timetable before registering to this NAA module as failure to attend all compulsory workshops without valid excuses would cause you unable to pass the module. 

  • Complete 40 hours of work experience either during vacation or term time, this include : 
    • Non charitable volunteering work
    • Placements and internships
    • Paid employments either full-time or part time
  • Complete all of the required course works assigned as follows:
    • Reflective logs during work experience
    • Resume submission
    • Work Experience Review from your supervisor
