Centre of Excellence for Post-harvest Biotechnology

Overview

The Centre of Excellence for Post-harvest Biotechnology(CEPB) was established to deal with research activities related to:

  • post-harvest physiology and technology
  • post-harvest handling
  • storage and processing of fresh fruits and vegetables

It is the goal of the centre to carry out research using the most innovative technologies and approaches for post-harvest preservation of fresh fruits and vegetables. The Centre also hopes to develop methods for prolonging the shelf life of fresh produce through the use of novel technologies in an economically viable, safe and environmentally friendly manner.

Other research activities related to post-harvest pathology, food preservation and human nutrition are also considered at the Centre. Researchers at the Centre are actively involved in collaboration with national and international colleagues, partners and industrialists.
