Biography

I was born in Perak, which is a state in the northern regions of Malaysia, about 3 hours' drive from Kuala Lumpur. I have always had a great interest in the English Language, even at a very young age. My exposure to the language began rather early and has remained an important aspect of my personal and professional life.

Expertise Summary

I am very interested in innovative and creative methods in Language Teaching, specifically the use of elements such as drama or any form of the creative arts in teaching language. I strongly believe that creative use of these elements in a language class can enhance student performance and interest in learning, specifically in an English for Academic Purposes environment.

I am currently teaching EAP-related modules (English for Academic Purposes) which focus on the four main skills i.e. Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking in academic context for Foundation-level students. I am also holding the position of the Director of Teaching and Learning and the Library Liaison Officer for the School of Languages, University of Nottingham Malaysia.
