Extenuating circumstances

If you miss an assessment, or believe an assessment was affected by extenuating circumstances (EC), you must complete an Extenuating Circumstances Form and submit it via NottinghamHub. 

The deadlines for EC claim submissions are:

• Coursework EC claims must be submitted before the original coursework deadline.
• Exam EC claims would ideally be submitted before the scheduled exam begins. They must be submitted no later than five working days after the exam, provided the mark has not yet been released to the student.

Students must submit EC claims within the required timeframes.

You must also provide supporting evidence when submitting the Extenuating Circumstances Form. This may include:

• a medical certificate
• a letter from appropriate medical professional  
• a letter from University Wellbeing Services  
• a written statement about a crime, supported by written evidence from the police
