Alumni are an asset to any educational institution.  

At University of Nottingham Malaysia, we aim to celebrate the numerous outstanding accomplishments of our graduates, especially those who have made significant contributions to their professions and communities, as well as demonstrated leadership and excellence in their respective fields and industries. 

The Nottingham Alumni Awards presents you with an opportunity to nominate yourself or other deserving alumni in five different categories, highlighting your achievements and recognising how far you have progressed in your career after graduation.

Call for nominations

Graduates of University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) are welcome to nominate themselves or other fellow UNM alumni for the Nottingham Alumni Awards 2025. 

Please refer to the Terms and Conditions before submitting your nomination. 

Date: 26 June -  31 August 2025

Nomination Deadline: 12PM, Sunday, 31 August 2025 

UNM alumni who graduated in the recent two years are ineligible for nominations. 

 

 

 

 

 

Award Categories

Business and Entrepreneurial Award
Alumni who are active in initiating and contributing to business opportunities, innovative and creative in creating new ideas with the potential for growth.

  • Areas of work could include entrepreneurship, business, economics, technology, and finance.

Arts, Cultural and Creativity Award
Alumni who have carved a career in the arts, cultural, and creative industry and who have demonstrated their artistic ingenuity, influence, and creativity.

  • Areas of work could include arts, design, poetry, language and linguistics, traditional media, music, video, TV, and online content media creation (e.g. blogging, vlogging, YouTube and social media).

Environmental and Sustainability Award
Alumni who have distinguished themselves through their career and achievements in the world of science, environmental, and sustainability, and who can demonstrate the impact and scale of their achievements in their profession or beyond.

  • Areas of work could include climate action, clean energy, medicine, sustainable cities and communities, engineering, industry, and construction.

Community Service Award
Alumni who have made an exceptional contribution and commitment to creating positive social change and improving the lives of others, and has made a positive impact regionally, nationally, or internationally through community service work, philanthropy or volunteering.

  • Areas of work could include education, peace and justice reducing inequality, poverty and hunger and broader humanitarian work or work for social good.

Research and Knowledge Exchange Award
Alumni who have made significant contributions to the professional, academic and research workplace, and whose accomplishments, affiliations, careers, and services have honoured the University’s legacy of excellence and have a significant impact at the regional, national, or international level.

  • Areas of work could include researchers, academics, and journal publications.

Quek Wee Siong has demonstrated exceptional leadership as the driving force behind MHuB, Malaysia's premier property technology platform. Under his guidance, MHuB has secured over 50% of the primary property market share, achieving a total transaction value exceeding RM58 billion. His vision has positioned MHuB as a transformative force in addressing critical housing challenges in Malaysia. Through his visionary leadership, Quek continues to redefine the property technology sector, ensuring MHuB remains a catalyst for industry growth and societal impact.

Dr Enakshi Sengupta

CEO and Founder of Borders Without Barbed Wires, Novelist

Dr Enakshi Sengupta is an internationally celebrated author, novelist, and academic leader whose work spans creative writing, higher education, and social advocacy. Her novel, The Silk Route Spy, published by HarperCollins, is a testament to her storytelling prowess and is available globally. In academia, she has established herself as a leading authority by serving as the lead author and editor of 40 books on higher education published by Emerald Publishing. She has also contributed over 60 chapters to renowned publishers like Routledge, Springer, and IGI, solidifying her influence in academic circles.

Environmental and Sustainability Award

Jasmin Irisha Jim Ilham

Climate and Environment Officer at UNICEF

Jasmin Irisha Jim Ilham is a dynamic climate advocate and youth leader, renowned for her tireless efforts in advancing sustainability and environmental policy both in Malaysia and on the global stage. A trailblazer in climate action, she represented Malaysia as part of the inaugural Young Southeast Asia Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) cohort in Honolulu, Hawaii, and at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP22. As the leader of the Malaysian Youth Delegation, she has been instrumental in building the capacity of young Malaysians to understand and engage with climate change policies and UN negotiations.

Community Service Award

Clarissa Tanurahardja

MA in International Relations

Community Management Coordinator Assistant at U.S Embassy Jakarta

Clarissa Tanurahardja is a distinguished human rights advocate and community leader, making impactful contributions to refugee rights, youth empowerment, and gender equality in Southeast Asia. She represents Indonesia as a 2022 YSEALI U.S.-ASEAN Women’s Leadership Academy delegate, focusing on Human Rights Leadership, and serves as a Senior Protection Assistant (Community-Based Protection) at UNHCR Indonesia. Among her numerous accolades are the 2022 Indonesian Representative to the YSEALI Women’s Leadership Academy, recognition as a featured woman leader on the Southeast Asian Women’s Initiative Website, and various scholarships, including the Amazon Web Services Machine Learning Foundations Course by Udacity.

Professor Pang Cheng Heng

Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Nottingham Ningbo

Professor Pang Cheng Heng is a trailblazer in clean energy technologies and sustainable engineering. He has led transformative advancements in biomass research and its applications. He is the Director of the Ningbo Government-Certified Key Laboratory on Clean Energy Conversion Technologies and the Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Government-Certified Key Laboratory for Carbonaceous Wastes Processing. He has pioneered breakthroughs in biomass conversion, notably inventing the patented PAnG method. His cutting-edge AI-driven fault detection systems have significantly improved efficiency and safety in China’s boiler industry, yielding documented economic benefits exceeding RMB 31 million.
