Welcome to the School of Humanities, established in 2024 to cultivate an innovative and comprehensive educational experience. Born from a dynamic partnership between the University's School of Media and Culture and the School of English, we delve into the core subjects that shape the human experience.

Explore the intricacies of International Communications, encompassing linguistic, multimodal, and visual forms. From new technologies and politics to critical theory and news media, our modules traverse the vast landscape of human interaction. Delve into Literary and Cultural Studies, examining how culture moulds identity, social structures, and individual narratives. Engage with a rich tapestry of texts, from classic literature to contemporary visual arts, within historical and emerging frameworks.

Our Linguistics modules explore how the English language is used for professional, political, personal and creative purposes across diverse contexts and how it interacts with social factors such as class and gender. Learn the structure of the language and its role in constructing, and contesting, identities, relations, attitudes and ideologies that shape social norms, values and power.

Through hands-on engagement with creative writing, music, and theatre, students cultivate a critical appreciation and explore the power of artistic practice.

Join us at the School of Humanities, where intellectual curiosity flourishes and the human experience is at the forefront.
