Connecting your device
To access the University Wi-Fi, select eduroam from the Wi-Fi list. If your operating system is not listed below, use the configuration assistance tool to connect your device.
Android
Connecting using the geteduroam app:
- Install the geteduroam app from Play Store, then open the app
- Under Institution, search for 'The University of Nottingham'
- Select the '.edu.my' profile, then select 'Next'
- Enter your university username followed by @nottingham.edu.my (ex. username@nottingham.edu.my) and password
- Click 'connect to network'. You may be prompted with a message saying "geteduroam Wants to Add a Wi-Fi Hotspot Network"
- Tap 'Allow' and then 'Join' - if you are not near the eduroam wireless network at the time of setup, the device will say unable to connect, but the app will have configured the device ready

Download the automatic configuration script for some Linux distributions. Enter your university username followed by @nottingham.edu.my (ex. username@nottingham.edu.my) and password.
Some distributions do not support the automatic configuration tool, and should use the manual settings.
If you have a problem connecting your laptop, run a software update on your device.

UNM-guest is a free Wi-Fi service and is available to:
- Members of the public visiting the campus
- Short term visitors
- Conference delegates
- Contractors and commercial partners
When you arrive at the university
- Find and select the UNM-guest connection
- Open your web browser, then visit any website such as www.google.com
- The UNM-guest wireless login page will appear
- Follow the on-screen instructions to register
- Your login details will be shown on the next screen (a confirmation email will also be sent to the email address you registered with)
- You can log in and use the service for seven days before you will need to re-register.
UNM-guest is an open network and does not provide encryption for traffic transmitted or received by connected devices. Security for connections made using the UNM-guest network remains your responsibility and the service is used at your own risk. Please do not enter passwords online when using this network.
