It's an Incredible experience! Everyone were extremely welcoming from the first day, from the staff to student ambassadors the program was run exceptionally well and I would like to thank all the individuals who had worked extremely hard to get the program back up and running after COVID-19. Beyond that, the friends and experiences I have gained from this program will stay with me forever!"
Bethany Stevenson, UNUK - Politics, Culture and the Media in Southeast Asia
I can proudly say that this was the best decision I've made. Exposure to Asia’s Business prospects, interactions with fellow students from around the world, lecturers and a wholesome learning journey. Particularly campus life, management, and helpful ambassadors is what makes me look back on this journey. I got to experience the diversity of the Malaysian community and its topology, ranging from breath-taking beaches, and city life to Broga and Panang Hill beauty. In a nutshell, I would recommend everyone to opt for this module at least once in their university life.
Rubaissa Tabassum, University of Management & Technology, Lahore - Doing Business in Asia
My experience at UNM has been life changing! I have always wanted to travel to Asia, but I could not, due to the pandemic. As a first generation student, and my first time going abroad, I have learned a lot about myself, and various other countries during the 2 weeks course.
Studying business English has improved my formal writing skills, professional conversations and most importantly, it has taught me how to deal with disagreements professionally. Also, the activities that we participated in places we traveled to, have broadened my horizons and increased my self confidence. Furthermore, being acquainted with a variety people, from different cultures has been mind blowing. Moreover, I have made genuine friends that I am keeping in touch with, because we are a good support system for each other and I intend to see them again soon!!!
Patty Mongwe, University of Johannesburg - Communicative English in a business context.
Being a part of the summer school has been the most remarkable experience ever since the pandemic began. The two weeks spent there were nothing less than a dream. The program was so engaging, fun and interactive that I feel I have learnt more in two weeks than I would have learnt one whole semester! A particular highlight of my time was that I was able to meet students from all across the world, broaden my perspectives and learn a few life skills. The international summer school program has undoubtedly had a positive impact on me. I would urge each and every person that comes across this program to not think twice and enroll yourself in it, before it is too late. You'll thank me later!

Enlightening experience that I’m grateful to have been a part of. Being granted the opportunity to learn about business proceedings in a foreign continent from top-class lecturers, via the Doing Business in Asia module, gave me great insight into the unique workings of businesses in Asia as well as how they differ from those in the west. The true joy lies within experiencing Malaysia. From the phenomenal cuisine and unique culture to the intensely humid weather and beautiful nature, this experience was spectacular. I’ve met so many wonderful people from across the globe and formed many unforgettable memories that I will cherish. Many thanks to the staff and ambassadors for making this event possible!

Politics, Culture and the Media in Southeast Asia (Level 2)
Contemporary South-East Asia is one of the fastest growing regions in the world, but that growth is challengingly uneven between powerhouses like Singapore and the less advanced nations such as Laos and Myanmar. The political landscape is a mixed of authoritarian or centralised states, as Vietnam, and more vibrant democracies like the Philippines and Indonesia. This module approaches these issues from three perspectives - international relations, media studies, and cultural politics - offering a thorough introduction to the distinctive challenges facing the region today.
