FAQ
Are the programmes under this Department accredited by professional bodies?
Yes, both of our undergraduate degrees, MEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Programme and MEng (Hons) in Mechatronic Engineering Programme, are accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in the UK and Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) in Malaysia.
What career opportunities are available for electrical and electronic engineering graduates?
Our graduates enjoy a wide variety of careers in diverse industries, ranging from analogue and digital electronics, telecommunications, and power automation to manufacturing, robotics, semiconductor and automotive, among others. Some of our academically inclined graduates would also continue to pursue postgraduate degrees, including the
MPhil and PhD programmes at UNM.
How does the Department ensure equality and inclusivity in the learning environment?
Our Department celebrates diversity within our faculty by embracing cultural, gender, technical, and experiential differences. With expertise spanning various fields of engineering and technology, we are committed to fostering inclusive learning, innovative teaching methods with global perspectives, and supporting gender balance in the path to multidisciplinary excellence.
Are there opportunities to study abroad?
Yes, undergraduate students can participate in the
Student Mobility Scheme, staying up to a year, which encompasses two semesters, in our linked campuses in the UK or China. This student exchange programme is subject to the terms and conditions applied. Please note that this scheme is not available for mechatronics engineering undergraduate students as this programme is not offered in the UK and China campuses. We are still exploring the possibility of offering third-year mechatronics engineering undergraduates the opportunity to study in the UK in the future.
