All undergraduate students are required to enrol in, complete, and pass the General Studies (MPU) modules before graduating. This is a compulsory requirement under the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996 (Act 555), which applies to all private universities in Malaysia, including UNM.

- Please note that the MPU structure is subject to revision from time to time in accordance with the latest directives, policies, and requirements issued by the relevant authorities.
- The National Language A module is compulsory for students who do not have credit in the Bahasa Melayu subject in SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia/Malaysian Certificate of Examination).
