Established in 2006, the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences (formerly known as the School of Biosciences) at the University of Nottingham Malaysia has long been recognised as a hub for excellence in education and research across biotechnology, nutrition, biological and environmental sciences.
Our consolidation with the School of Environmental and Geographical Sciences brings together our strengths in biotechnology innovation, nutrition and health sciences, and environmental and geographical studies. This enables us to address the interconnected global challenges of health, food security, climate change, and sustainability through a more holistic and collaborative approach.
Our School’s core strength is our innovative curriculum designed to equip our students with unique hands-on and real-life world experiences. For Environmental Science undergraduates, we organise major residential field courses through which our students gain the advantage of studying and interacting with various local communities and their tropical ecosystems, such as on Tioman Island. Other undergraduate modules incorporate one-day field courses within the wider Klang Valley region and near our main campus, providing students with hands-on experiences in health and nutrition promotion, community outreach, and applied biotechnology.
In our School, we ensure that our curriculum and related academic activities are aligned with, and actively contribute to, the United Nations’. Our main focus applies to:
