Running a little behind? We’re here to help.

We understand that you may not always be able to register on time. If you're arriving late or facing delays, this is the guide on what to do, who to contact, and what your options are. Please read carefully, as late registration is not automatic and is subject to approval.

Step 1: Check your deadlines

All students are expected to complete registration before classes begin. However, if you're arriving a little late, you may still be able to register within the first two weeks of the semester. Do keep in mind that by then, some classes will already have taken place  and it's your responsibility to catch up on any lessons or coursework you may have missed.

If you’re unable to register within this two-week window, you’ll need to request special approval for late registration. This must be done through the appropriate university office depending on whether you're a Malaysian or international student.

Step 2: Request late registration

For Malaysian students

You’ll need to send an email to the Student Registry Office at student_registry@nottingham.edu.my to request late registration. While waiting for confirmation, kindly inform your accommodation provider of your estimated arrival date so they can support you accordingly. Please note that approval is subject to the circumstances and timeline of your request and approval is not guaranteed.

For International students

Please reach out to the Visa Office at apply.visa@nottingham.edu.my if you're expecting any delays in your arrival. Like with local students, approval depends on the specific circumstances and timing of your request. It's very important that international students secure late registration approval before travelling to Malaysia to avoid unnecessary inconvenience or the possibility of being turned away.

Important note: Late arrival is not considered an extenuating circumstance for students. You are responsible for catching up on any missed work or class activities. You can communicate with the school if you have any queries on your missed classes.

Step 3: Complete registration after approval

If your request is approved, you must complete the registration process by the agreed deadline. You may visit the Student Registry Office on the first floor of Block A to guide you through the registration process. The office is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).

Step 4: If you cannot register this intake

If you are unable to register for your current intake, you may defer your offer by contacting the Admissions Office at admissions@nottingham.edu.my. Please note that students who are progressing from UNM’s Foundation Programme to Undergraduate programmes are not eligible for deferment.
