Dr Ben Barton participates in UK's Belt and Road Strategy after Brexit forum

Dr Ben Barton recently took part in an event organised by Asia House (London) in collaboration with the University of Nottingham’s Asia Research Institute (UoNARI UK).

The event was held on 19 February 2020 and covered the topic of the ‘UK’s Belt and Road Strategy after Brexit’ , link to recording of the panel here.

The event was inspired from the following policy brief Dr Barton wrote last year for UoNARI and the University of Nottingham’s Institute for Policy and Public Engagement on the aforementioned theme of the ‘UK’s Belt and Road Strategy after Brexit’.

Sir Douglas Flint, the UK’s BRI Envoy gave the keynote speech to the event, after which the panel was invited on stage to talk about the topic at hand.

The panel was composed of the following experts:

  • Minister Ma Hui, Chinese Embassy to the UK
  • Stephen King, HBSC
  • Dame Mary Marsh, University of Nottingham
  • Dr  Ben Barton, University of Nottingham Malaysia

The event was attended by 250 representatives from industry and government, including representatives from 40 embassies.
