Biography

Julia Roknifard joined the University of Nottingham Malaysia in September 2019. Prior to that, she has been the Director for Foreign Policy at EMIR research, a Kuala Lumpur based think-tank. She has served as a Research Fellow at the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" in 2010-2019 and is currently a Consultant with the PIR Center, Moscow-based think-tank specialized on international security and nuclear non-proliferation.

Expertise Summary

Julia is specialized on Iranian and Middle Eastern Studies, matters surrounding Iran's nuclear program, Iran's domestic politics and foreign policy. Her research interests lie with international security, including its non-traditional aspects, interweaving of religion and politics, evolution of Islamism, and counterterrorism.

Teaching Summary

Julia Roknifard teaches security courses (International Security - UG; Human Security and Contemporary Security Challenges - PGT) and Politics and International Relations of the Middle East (UG)
