Foundation and Undergraduate Scholarships

Foundation High Achiever's Scholarship
Description
A merit-based foundation scholarship for eligible students who are enrolled in our Nottingham Foundation Programme .
Eligibility

Foundation

  • Qualification: Please refer to Appendix A
  • Grades obtained in religion, general studies, physical education, and subjects not considered relevant to the programme are typically excluded from the evaluation.
Benefits
Recipients are eligible for a 25%, 20%, 15% or 10% tuition fee reduction for their foundation course based on their entry results.
To retain the scholarship
The scholarship is valid for the full 1-year duration of the foundation programme only.
Application process
No separate application required. Eligible offer holders are awarded automatically and the scholarship letter can be downloaded from the NottinghamHub portal.
High Achiever’s Scholarship for Undergraduate (New Students)
Description

The High Achiever’s Scholarship (HAS) recognises and rewards outstanding academic performance. This merit-based scholarship is offered at the University’s discretion to deserving students and is automatically granted to applicants who meet the academic criteria.

Eligibility

For the full qualification and spcific criteria, please refer to Appendix B

*Grades obtained in religion, general studies, physical education, and subjects which are not taken into consideration for a programme are generally excluded.

*Where a programme requires specific-subject grade equivalent to A level, you will be asked to achieve a particular grade at a similar level. Grade A- or B-* will not be considered when grade A or *B is required as part of the criteria.

Benefits

Recipients will receive a 25%, 20%, or 15% tuition fee reduction on their first year undergraduate study based on their results.

To retain the scholarship
The scholarship is awarded for the first year of the undergraduate programme only and does not extend to subsequent years. 
Application process
No separate application required. Eligible offer holders are awarded automatically, and scholarship letter can be downloaded from the NottinghamHub portal. 
Dean's Excellence Scholarship (DES)
Description

Dean's Excellence Scholarship (DES) is awarded to top achieving current students, at the point of progression for each academic year, i.e. from:

  • Foundation to Year 1
  • Year 1 to Year 2
  • Year 2 to Year 3
  • Year 3 to Year 4 (applicable for Masters of Engineering and Bachelor of Education only)
Eligibility

To be eligible for the Dean's Excellence Scholarship (DES), students must meet the following minimum academic thresholds:

Nottingham Foundation Programme

  • Pathway to Faculty of Science and Engineering (FOSE) : Minimum average marks of 90%
  • Pathway to Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) : Minimum average marks of 80%

Undergraduate Programme 

  • Faculty of Science and Engineering (FOSE) : Minimum average marks of 85%
  • Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) : Minimum average marks of 75% 

 

Benefits

Reduction of tuition fee by 25% for one academic year.

Students who have been awarded scholarships from UNM or receiving sponsorships from external sponsoring bodies will not be eligible for the reduction.
To retain the scholarship
The scholarship is awarded for one academic year only, renewal of scholarship is contingent upon making the Dean's list upon progressing in each subsequent academic year.
Application process
No application is required. 
Sibling Scholarship
Description
When a student registers for any programme at the University of Nottingham, their second and subsequent siblings will be entitled to this scholarship. The award is applicable only in their first year of study at UNM and cannot be carried forward to subsequent academic years. 
Eligibility
This scholarship is awarded to the second and subsequent siblings of a registered UNM student. The siblings are not required to be enrolled at the University at the same time. 
Benefits
A 10% reduction on the first year's tuition fees. 
To retain the scholarship
    The scholarship is granted exclusively for one academic year only. 
Application process

Applicants are required to provide evidence of sibling relationship (e.g. birth certificate) and submit it to the Sponsorship Unit.

UNM - YTAR Scholarship
Description
The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) - Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman (YTAR) Scholarship is a scholarship for high-potential undergraduate students who are driven and committed to making a positive impact in Malaysia. This applies especially to individuals who face financial hardship and need assistance in pursuing their higher education. 
Eligibility
  • Malaysian nationality 
  • Has completed pre-university studies and starting Year 1 undergraduate course at UNM
  • Demonstrate leadership potential and strong character 
  • Excellent academic qualifications 
  • Priority will be given to candidates with disabilities, from rural backgrounds, and/or low-income households.
  • Priority will be given to candidates who have overcome or currently facing difficult life challenges
Benefits
  • 100% full scholarship for tuition fees 
  • Monthly living allowance 
  • Yearly allowance for stationery, books and personal development 
  • One-time allowance for laptop, formal wear, thesis cost and flight tickets
  • Two-year leadership development programme inclusive of leadership conferences, community projects and mentorships.
To retain the scholarship
To achieve an average mark of 60% in each academic year.
Application process

Fill up the application form available on the YTAR website. The application is open from 8 February to 8 April 2025. The selected candidates will go through a virtual interview and assessment followed by a background check. For more info, check out the Yayasan Tunku Abdul Rahman website.

UNM - MCKL Scholarship
Description
A scholarship offered to exceptional Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) students pursuing any UNM undergraduate programme to be completed in Malaysia.
Eligibility
    • An MCKL student of Malaysian nationality
    • Obtain a minimum of 3As at A-levels, excluding general studies 
    • Holding an unconditional offer letter from the University of Nottingham Malaysia 
    • Not holding any other scholarship from the University of Nottingham Malaysia and/or sponsorships from external sponsors
    • Active in sports and extra-curricular activities 
    • Students experiencing financial difficulties are given priority
    • Maintain a second upper-class average mark in each academic year
Benefits
100% full scholarship for tuition fees
To retain the scholarship
Maintain at least an average marks of 60% in each academic year

ASEAN International Student Bursary
Description

The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) recognises and supports talented students from ASEAN member countries by providing a bursary for eligible applicants pursuing selected undergraduate programmes at UNM. 

Eligibility

Open to applicants from ASEAN countries (excluding Malaysia) who are enrolling in selected undergraduate programmes at UNM, based on the passport submitted during the application stage. 

The list of courses eligible for the scholarship is available in Appendix C

Benefits

Recipients will receive a 15% reduction in annual tuition fees. 

Students may also combine this bursary with the High Achiever's Scholarship (HAS) and the Dean's Excellence Scholarship (DES), subject to meeting the respective eligibility criteria. 

To retain the scholarship
Students must successfully progress to the next academic year to retain the bursary. 
Application process
No separate application required. Eligible offer holders are awarded automatically, and the scholarship letter can be downloaded from the NottinghamHub. 
Study Abroad Programme Scholarship
Description
This scholarship is offered to recognise and strengthen academic collaborations between the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) and its approved partner universities. It supports eligible incoming students from partner instituitions who wish to undertake a study period at UNM. 
Eligibility

Benefits
Recipients will receive a 20% reduction on the tuition fees for either one or two semesters. 
To retain the scholarship
The scholarship is awarded for one or two semesters only. 
Application process
No separate application required. Eligible offer holders are awarded automatically, and the scholarship letter can be downloaded from the NottinghamHub portal.
