Important Information
What is an electronic Visa Approval Letter (eVAL)?
The electronic Visa Approval Letter (eVAL) is a document issued by the Malaysian Immigration Department when your visa application is approved. It is required for students to enter Malaysia in order to obtain the Student Pass. The eVAL is only valid for 6 months.
The entry requirements for Malaysia vary depending on your country of origin. Students from certain countries are required to apply for a Single Entry Visa (SEV) in addition to entering Malaysia with an eVAL. The SEV must be obtained from the nearest Malaysian Embassy or Mission in your home country.
Alternatively, students may apply for an eVISA online. Please note that the eVISA application must be made from outside of Malaysia.
What is an Single Entry Visa (SEV) / eVISA?
The Single Entry Visa (SEV) is a stamp or sticker placed in your passport, issued by the Malaysian Embassy in your home country. It can only be applied for after receiving your Visa Approval Letter (eVAL). Once issued, the SEV is valid for 3 months for travel to Malaysia.
For countries without a Malaysian Representative Office, students will need to obtain a Visa on Arrival for Students (VOAS) at the VOA counter, located at the Arrival Hall or point of entry in Malaysia.
The eVISA is a digital version of the SEV, which allows foreign nationals to apply online without needing to visit the Malaysian Embassy.
